PRINCETON, N.J. – The Harvard women's swimming and diving team finished in second place at the Ivy League Championships, falling just short in its bid to defend its title from a season ago.
The Crimson finished the four-day event with 1,254 points, trailing only the hosts, Princeton, which earned 1,480 points. The Tigers and Harvard completed the meet atop the team leaderboard ahead of Yale (1,158.50), Brown (951.50), Columbia (910.50), Penn (832), Cornell (552) and Dartmouth (255.50).
At the conclusion of the meet,
Evie Geier received the Career High Point Diver Award, with
Samantha Shelton collecting the Career High Point Swimmer Award.
Harvard Highlights
- Senior Samantha Shelton finished the prelims of the 200 back as the top performer with an NCAA B-standard time of 1:55.66. Then when it counted, Shelton won the A-final with a 1:54.42 performance.
- Shelton led the way in the 200 back A-final and was followed closely by first-year Anya Mostek, who was the runner-up, clocking in a 1:55.64 (NCAA B-cut). Addie Rose Bullock, meanwhile, came in eighth after touching the pad in 2:01.33. Kate Hazlett (1:58.46) and Maggie Buckley (2:00.26) finished in second and seventh place, respectively, in the B-final.
- Elizabeth Miclau (303.85) was edged for the three-meter diving championship, falling short by just 1.10 points. The junior was the runner-up to Princeton's Charlotte Martinkus (304.95). Nina Janmyr (302.70), Remi Edvalson (301.50) and Evie Geier (278.65) finished in third, fourth and eighth place, respectively.
- Mandy Brenner finished in a tie for seventh place in the A-final of the 100 free. She and Brown's Samantha Scott each recorded a time of 50.23. Molly Hamlin was the B-final runner-up (season-best 49.87), with Darlene Fung coming in eighth in the C-final (51.79).
- Sydney Lu won the B-final of the 200 fly, finishing in a season-best 1:59.36. Grace Yoon came in fourth, checking in at 2:01.21, which was also a season best.
- Harvard had the Nos. 4-7 performers in the B-final of the 200 breast. Kaia Li led the group, completing the event in 2:17.21, and was followed by Victoria Eisenhauer (2:17.25), Liz Boyer (2:17.27) and Aleksandra Denisenko (2:17.57).
