Baseball Drops Twinbill at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford swept a non-league doubleheader from visiting Harvard at Russell King Field on Saturday, winning the opener 10-0 before a 7-2 win in the nightcap.

Harvard remains winless on the young season in dropping to 0-7 while Wofford improves to 10-5 with the wins.

In the opener, Brent Suter (0-2) didn't have his best stuff as Wofford chased him with seven runs on 10 hits in just 2.2 innings. The Terriers cruised to the 10-0 win, banging out 16 hits to Harvard's five.

The only Harvard pitcher to go unscathed was Zack Hofeld, who struck out a batter in his scoreless inning.

In the nightcap, Harvard jumped out to a 2-0 lead through three innings but Wofford scored five times in the fifth inning to seize control.

In the fifth, five straight batters reached base with Mac Doyle delivering a grand slam against Crimson starter Eric Eadington (0-1), who was saddled for the loss after surrendering five runs on five hits in 5.1 innings.

Harvard had taken its lead in the second as Dillon O'Neill walked, moved to third on a single from Taylor Helgren and scored on a suicide squeeze from Kyle Larrow.

Marcus Way added to the lead in the next inning with a long homer to right-center with two outs.

Way and Helgren each had two hits for led Harvard.
