CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard co-captain Ethan Ferreira was named the Ivy League Player of the Week, the League announced on Tuesday. Ferreira, who shares the honor with Columbia's Jordan Serena, picks up his first Player of the Week award.
Ferreira led the Crimson to a 5-1 week, including a doubleheader sweep of UMass and taking three-of-four against Army. The senior hit an impressive .500 over the Spring Break trip (12-of-24) with seven RBI and six runs scored. He totaled five extra-base hits on the week, pounding out a double, two triples and two home runs as well, slugging .958.
Aside from Ferreira's honor – the first Player of the Week nod for Harvard since 2012, proof of the vast improvement this season – pitcher Kevin Rex and freshman Matt Rothenberg each earned spots on the Honor Roll.
After enjoying one of the most successful starts to a season in recent memory, the Crimson looks to keep things rolling this weekend as trips to Penn and Columbia are on the docket to begin Ancient Eight play.
