CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Joseph J. O'Donnell '67 Head Coach for Harvard Baseball, Bill Decker, has recently announced the appointment of a pair of junior captains for the 2016 season. Catcher DJ Link and pitcher Matt Sanders will serve as leaders for the Crimson this upcoming season.
In 79 career games for the Crimson, Link has hit .266 with nine doubles, 32 RBI and 24 runs scored from behind the plate and at the DH spot. The Clifton, New Jersey, native was perfect in the field this season and has committed just two errors during his time in Cambridge in 229 total chances, while catching 15 runners stealing. Sanders, a product of Tampa, Florida, has eight appearances on the hill in his career, going 2-0 with a 4.19 ERA. He's struck out six in 19.1 innings of work.
Both Link and Sanders have proved their leadership on and off the field, and will lead the Crimson, which enjoyed its best season since 2007 with 18 wins, into the 2016 season next March.
