CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Matt Rothenberg of the Harvard baseball team has been voted to the All-New England second team, as announced Wednesday by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA). The postseason award is the second of the year for the designated hitter, as he was also named an All-Ivy League honorable mention selection.
Rothenberg led the Crimson with a .363 average and .444 on-base percentage, ranking in the top-three in the Ivy League in both categories. The right-handed hitter drove a team-high 13 doubles, and led the Crimson with 45 hits and 18 walks. Hitting in the middle of the Harvard batting order, Rothenberg tallied 18 RBI on the season, including a career-best three against Massachusetts March 16.
Harvard baseball posted a 17-24 overall record, including a 9-11 mark in Ivy League play. The Crimson's nine Ivy wins were its most since 2010.
