GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Harvard baseball team was recently named a Team Academic Excellence Award recipient as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) for its 3.46 GPA during the 2016-17 academic year.
The ABCA created the award in 2016 to honor high school and college programs that maintain a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale through the academic year.
"As an organization, we are proud to recognize the off-the-field achievements of baseball teams and their coaches," said ABCA Executive Director Craig Keilitz. "The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award is another way to honor coaches and teams who help their players become well-rounded individuals who will be successful throughout life."
In the award's inaugural year, 160 programs were recognized and this year that number jumped to 226 teams earning Academic Excellence status.
