CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard baseball team has earned its third-straight Team Academic Excellence Award for its work in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year. The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the recipients for the award on July 23. Yale was the only other Ivy League school named as an award winner.
The ABCA has been giving out the award for four years, since the 2015-16 school year. The award is given to schools that maintain a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout the academic year.
In total, 308 collegiate and high school baseball programs were named as recipients, increasing from 292 a year ago. The Crimson was one of only 51 Division I teams to earn the honor, along with 158 Division II and Division III programs.
The 2019 Harvard baseball team adds another accolade to their impressive 2019 season. The Crimson was crowned Ivy League Champion and made an appearance at the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2005.
