PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior defensive tackle Richie Ryan has been selected as the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Ryan was a force on the defensive line for a Crimson team that posted a season-high eight sacks of Columbia's quarterback. Ryan accounted for a team-best 2.5 of those sacks against the Lions and had 3.5 tackles for a loss. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native racked up 11 total tackles and had a forced fumble in Harvard's 21-14 victory.

On the season, Ryan has career-highs in tackles (37), sacks (three) and TFL's (4.5).

Ryan's honor marks the fourth weekly award this season for the Crimson. Justice Shelton-Mosley was twice named Special Teams Player of the Week (Oct. 2, 16) and Jake Smith was Rookie of the Week Oct. 30. Harvard host Penn Saturday at noon in its final home game of the season. Fans can watch the game live on NESNplus and the Ivy League network.
