CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard football team has teamed with SAAC to host its annual Bone Marrow Drive Tuesday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Science Center Plaza.

The football team works with the national "Be the Match" organization to raise awareness about bone marrow donations and promote national efforts to build the donor registry.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to have their cheek swabbed and to be added to the national bone marrow registry. There is no cost or obligation to be tested, but the simple procedure could ultimately save another person's life.

Patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases that can be treated by a bone marrow or cord blood transplant are desperately searching for donors every day.

Be The Match Registry® is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to creating an opportunity for all patients to receive the marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant they need, when they need it. It is the largest and most diverse donor registry in the world.
