CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Kyla Cordrey and Sarah Finnemore, members of the Class of 2017, have been elected captains of the Harvard field hockey team for the 2016 season, as determined by a vote of their teammates.
Cordrey is a three-time All-Ivy League selection, earning a spot on the second team this year. A constant force on the defensive half of the field, Cordrey has started every game since joining the Crimson in 2013, 17 contests each year for a total of 51. In 2015, Cordrey led a Harvard back line that held opponents to 110 shots on goal, 31 less than the Crimson had this season, and just 34 goals against, a 2.0 goals per game average.

Finnemore has also played in all 51 games of her career, starting 49 of them. She has five goals and three assists in her career including the game-winner as a freshman against Holy Cross. Last season she potted one goal in a 5-3 victory over UMass Lowell, while also chipping in two assists during the year.
Cordrey and Finnemore have been integral players in the Crimson posting winning record each of the last two seasons, a feat last accomplished in 2003 and 2004. The duo will move into leadership roles for next season as Harvard looks to continue building on its winning ways.
