SCHOLARS OF DISTINCTION

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its final academic honors of 2015-16 Wednesday, its list of Division I Scholars of Distinction with Harvard junior Abbey Thornhill earning the award.

The NFHCA recognizes any student-athlete that has a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the fall 2015 semester as a Scholar of Distinction. Thornhill, a government concentrator, was one of just 80 student-athletes at the Division I level recognized with the award.

The announcement comes just one day after Thornhill and 15 of her teammates were recognized as National Academic Squad selections and Harvard as a team was honored with the Academic Team Award as one of the squads with the top-five GPA in the country.
