CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior captain Bente van Vljimen was named First Point USA/NFHCA Northeast Region Player of the Year, the organization announced today (Dec. 5).

A native of Zeist, The Netherlands, van Vlijmen is Harvard's first Northeast Region Player of the Year in program history. A senior captain, she capped off her four-year career with another fantastic year, finishing the 2019 season with 32 points (13 goals, six assists) and placing second in the Ivy League in scoring.

The Ivy League Player of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection, van Vlijmen was a two-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honoree. A three-time NFHCA All-American and four-time First Team All-Ivy selection. van Vlijmen reached 45 goals, and 104 points over 69 games played for the Crimson, moving into sole possession of second place on Harvard's all-time goals and points list.
