CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard heavyweights will close out its dual season by facing No. 9 Northeastern for the Smith Cup on the Charles River Saturday morning.

The event will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network. Alex Vispoli and Austin Meyer '13 will have the call.

Scouting No. 9 Northeastern
The Huskies are 1-1 on the season after topping No. 9 brown in the Dreissigacker Cup last weekend. John Pojednic is in his 17th season as the head coach of Northeastern men's rowing.

Thank You, Jack
Northeastern's legendary sports information director, Jack Grinold, passed away last week at the age of 81. Jack worked at Northeastern since 1962 and was a fixture of the sport of crew, here, in Boston. We would like to thank Jack for his more than 50 years of service to college athletics, and we will miss him dearly. 

The Charlie Smith Cup
Winners of 25 Smith Cups, including 19-straight, Harvard has won 34 of 37 races in the series against Northeastern. Starting in 1989, the trophy is named for Charlie Smith, a boatman at Harvard for 10 years and at Northeastern for five.

In the Launch
Charley Butt, the Bolles-Parker Head Coach for Harvard Men's Heavyweight Crew, begins his 32nd season with the Harvard rowing program and fourth with the heavyweight men in 2017. Butt owns a 26-3 record in duals race as the heavyweight coach.  

Last Year
Harvard went 7-1 last season and placed fourth at the Eastern Sprints and third at the IRA National Championships.
