No. 3 Men’s Heavyweight Crew Second Varsity Claims Gold Medal at Eastern Sprints

WORCESTER, Mass. – Kicking off postseason competition, the No. 3 Harvard men's heavyweight crew second varsity eight boat captured a gold medal at Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond today, May 19. The Crimson's first varsity eight claimed a silver medal, while Harvard's third, fourth and fifth boats each finished third.

After winning its morning heat, Harvard's second varsity eight edged Brown at the finish line by 2.9 seconds to clinch the first-place finish at 6:25.9 in its grand final race. The Crimson's first varsity eight produced a second-place finish after winning its morning heat as well. Harvard's varsity eight clocked in at 6:22.0, beating third-place Brown by 2.8 seconds, but coming up just short of Yale in first.

The Crimson's third, fourth and fifth varsity eight boats each recorded third-place showings, all claiming a bronze medal in their respective grand finals.
