WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Harvard men's lightweight crew team took sixth overall in the grand final, while the four without coxswain earned a bronze medal on the final day of competition at the IRA National Championships on Mercer Lake.

In the top race, the Crimson was even with the field through the first 250 meters. Columbia, Yale and Princeton pushed ahead of the pack by the 500-meter mark, as Penn ranked fourth and Harvard and Cornell battled for fifth. The Big Red inched out to a seven-seat lead and held it over the final 1,000. Harvard finished sixth with a time of 6:05.400.

The varsity four without coxswain, an exhibition event, posted a third-place finish in the grand final. Cornell won the event in 6:24.580, followed by Princeton (6:26.570). Harvard was just behind the Tigers in 6:27.660, holding off Penn, who clocked a time of 6:30.830.

The varsity four led wire-to-wire to take an open water win over Cornell. The Crimson used a strong start to push out ahead of all crews and maintained its lead with a sprint down the finish for a four-second win over the Big Red. Harvard stopped the clock in 6:50.700.
