  • Men's and Women's Heavyweight, Lightweight Crews Place 39 on 2019 IRA All-Academic Teams

    Identical to the 2017-18 season, thirty-nine (39) combined athletes from the Harvard men's heavyweight, men's lightweight, and Radcliffe lightweight crew earned Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) All-Academic awards.
  • No. 5 Harvard Lightweight Crew Medals at IRA National Championships

    FOLSOM, Calif. – The No. 5 Harvard lightweight crew team completed competition at the IRA National Championships this morning at Lake Natoma in Folsom, Calif. The day was highlighted by a silver medal finish by the varsity four without a coxswain. The crew trailed Dartmouth for much of the race, but put together a late surge to overcome its Ivy foe by less than two seconds.
  • Harvard Lightweight Crew Competes on Day One of IRAs

    FOLSOM, Calif. – The No. 5 Harvard lightweight crew team raced three boats this morning, May 31, in the opening heats of the 2019 IRA National Championships. The lightweight four without a coxswain advanced to its grand final while the lightweight eight and lightweight four will compete in the petite finals on Sunday.

    WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 5 Harvard lightweight crew team raced five boats at Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 19. Two of the five boats finished in the top two of their respective Grand Finals, while the varsity lightweight eight finished second in the Petite Final.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard lightweight crew team is set to contend with No. 5 Yale and No. 2 Princeton this Saturday in Princeton, N.J. On the line is both the Goldthwait Cup and the Vogel Cup. Racing begins at 10 a.m. The regatta will be broadcast on ESPN+.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard lightweight crew team retained possession of the Haines Cup and Paulovich Trophy with three first place finishes on the Charles River today, April 20. Conditions posed a stiff cross-headwind with gusts consistently variable throughout racing. The first 1000m were quite choppy while the third 500 calmed a bit and the last 500 was flatter.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 Harvard lightweight crew team will compete for its third cup this season, hosting No. 7 Navy and Delaware on the Charles River. Racing begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

    LEONIA, N.J. – The No. 5 Harvard lightweight crew team took the Wales-Kirrane Cup from No. 3 Columbia and No. 8 Georgetown with 1.63 and 10.1 second victories respectively in the first varsity race. The crews raced in 60 degree temps with sun and a slight tailwind that picked up as the morning progressed.
  • No. 5 Harvard Lightweight Crew Posts Strong Performance at Matthews-Leonard Cup

    PHILADELPHIA – The Harvard lightweight crew team posted a strong performance today, winning two of four races at the Matthews-Leonard Cup against No. 5 Penn and No. 2 Cornell. The team enjoyed mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low-50s and almost no wind. While Cornell took home the trophies for winning the varsity eight race and accumulating the most team points, the Crimson men shined in the third varsity race with a six-second victory over the Big Red and edged out Penn by two seconds in the fourth varsity race.
  • Harvard Lightweight Crew Set for Two Regattas to Open 2019

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 5 Harvard lightweight crew team will race in two regattas to open the 2019 season this weekend, April 6-7. On Saturday, the team will compete for the Matthews-Leonard Cup in Philadelphia, Pa. against No. 5 Penn and No. 2 Cornell, before turning around to try and claim the Wales-Kirane Cup on Sunday in Leonia, N.J. against No. 3 Columbia and No. 8 Georgetown.

  • Men’s Lightweight Crew Alum, Andrew Campbell, Named USRowing Senior Athlete of the Year

    Andrew Campbell, a 2014 Harvard graduate and former member of the men’s lightweight crew team, has been tabbed USRowing’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year. The honor comes after Campbell earned a bronze medal at the 2018 World Rowing Championships.

  • Lightweight Crew’s Thomas Satterthwaite Earns Spot at Under 23 World Championships

    Harvard lightweight crew rising sophomore, Thomas Satterthwaite, has been selected as a member of the 72-person roster for the US National Team at the Under 23 World Championships July 25-29 in Poznan, Poland. Satterthwaite will compete in the lightweight men’s double sculls, paired with Artym Hayda from Georgetown University.
