Dershwitz Earns Top-16 Finish at Moscow Sabre Grand Prix

Rising sophomore Eli Dershwitz earned All-America honors in 2014-15 (Gil Talbot).

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Rising sophomore Eli Dershwitz of the Harvard men's fencing team placed 13th at the Moscow Sabre Grand Prix over the weekend.

Dershwitz, who hails from Sherborn, Massachusetts, entered the tournament, which serves as the first Grand Prix of the qualifying series for the 2016 Olympic Games, as the No. 17 seed.

Dershwitz defeated four-time senior world champion Veniamnin Reshetnikov of Russia, 15-14, in teh table of 32.  

A first-team All-American during his freshman season at Harvard, Dershwitz's 13th-place finish allows him to remain the top American in teh adjusted Olympic rankings going into the 2015 Senior World Championships to be held in Moscow in July.
