PHILADELPHIA, Penn.- In their first contest of the season, men's fencing tabbed a perfect 5-0 sweep at the Elite Invitational in Philadelphia.
In the opening bouts, foilists and team captain Duncan Rheingans-Yoo found success going undefeated against Air Force. First-year Filip Dolegiewicz lead the charge for the saber team with a perfect 3-0 record on the way to the Crimson's 19-8 win over Air Force.
Against Ivy rivals Penn and Princeton foilists combined to go 16-2 with the help of a perfect 6-0 record from Geoffrey Tourette.
Epee fencers posted their best bouts of the day against Penn State and NJIT. Junior Adrien Thein-Sandler went 5-1 throughout these rounds helping Harvard to a 19-8 victory over Penn State and 18-9 win against NJIT.
- Foilists posted the best record on the day winning 39 of their 46 bouts including a sweep of Ivy rival Penn.
- First-years Kenji Bravo, Filip Dolegiewicz and Jonas Hansen made their collegiate debuts on the strip.
- Bravo, foil, won 10 of his 12 bouts along with sophomore Daniel Solomon who won 9 of 10 bouts in saber.
