CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore forward Jack Drury was selected for the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster, and will compete for a spot on the final 23-man roster for the 2020 World Junior Championship, USA Hockey announced. The 2020 World Junior Championship will take place in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.
A native of Winnetka, Illinois, Drury earned a spot on the U.S. World Junior Team last winter, taking home a silver medal.
A second-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, Drury is off to another solid start in 2019-20, fourth among Harvard skaters with 10 points (four goals, six assist) in 10 games. Drury is also one of the top faceoff men in the nation at 58.7% on draws (34th NCAA).
Last season, Drury put up a 24-point season (nine goals, 25 assists) appearing in 32 games with the Crimson. His six power play goals and plus-10 rating led all Harvard forwards. Drury was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team.
U.S. has medaled in four consecutive World Junior Championships (2019-silver, 2018-bronze, 2017-gold, 2016-bronze) for the first time in U.S. history. The 28-man preliminary roster will attend camp in Plymouth, Mich. at USA Hockey Arena, with the final 23-man roster to be announced on Dec. 24.
