Dwyer earned his first career Ivy League weekly honor for his five-point performance against No. 2 Cornell (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Devin Dwyer of the Harvard men's lacrosse team has been selected as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Dwyer registered five points to pace Harvard's offense in its near upset of No. 2/2 Cornell Saturday afternoon. The freshman attackman found the back of the net twice, each time when the score was tied to give the Crimson the lead, and handed out three assists. He also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover in the 14-12 setback.
The Garden City, N.Y., native has scored a point in all but one game for Harvard this season to lead the Crimson with 29 points on 13 goals and 16 assists. His 16 helpers currently ranks fourth in the Ivy League while his 29 points are good for ninth.
This marks the first Ivy League weekly honor of Dwyer's career. He was selected as NEILA's preseason Rookie of the Year.
Dwyer and the Crimson conclude their non-conference schedule Tuesday, April 9 at Quinnipiac. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
