Harvard returns 34 letterwinners to the field in 2016 (Elan Kawesch).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's lacrosse team has been ranked No. 14 in the 2016 Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook which was released on Monday.
Harvard returns 34 letterwinners from last year's squad which ranked 10th in the NCAA in scoring offense (12.29), including three-time All-Ivy League selection and 2015 Tewaaraton Award Watch List nominee Devin Dwyer (20g, 29a). A senior from Garden City, New York, Dwyer ranks fourth in Harvard history with 91 career assists and needs just 16 points this season to enter Harvard's all-time top 10. He will be joined on the offense end by classmates Ian Ardrey (24g, 8a), Deke Burns (26g, 2a) and Will Walker (18g, 5a), as well as sophomore Joe Lang (21g, 7a).
Starting goalkeeper Bryan Moore will also return between the pipes after receiving All-Ivy League second team accolades a season ago. Moore ranked 16th in the country in saves per game (11.23) as a junior and was 20th in save percentage (.541).
In front of Moore will be several familiar faces including Walker Kirby (33gb, 8ct), an All-Ivy League honorable mention pick in 2015, Jack Breit (24gb, 6ct) and Matt Ryan (49gb, 25ct). The Crimson defense will be bolstered by the return of 2015 Tewaaraton Award Watch List nominee Stephen Jahelka and 2014 USILA All-America honorable mention selection Bobby Duvnjak. Jahelka appeared in just two games last year while Duvnjak missed the entire season due to injury.
In addition, the Crimson has welcomed eight newcomers to the roster as members of Harvard's Class of 2019.
The Crimson is one of four Ivy League programs to appear in the Face-Off Yearbook rankings. Brown and Yale came in at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, with Cornell slotting in at No. 15. Harvard will also face Duke (No. 3), Albany (No. 11) and Villanova (No. 17) this season.
