The Crimson was picked first in the Preseason NEILA Poll by the head coaches (Penny Ashford).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following the announcement of seven Crimson players to the Preseason All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) teams, NEILA has also announced that Harvard was selected as the No. 3 team in the region.
Harvard, which is currently ranked 17th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike Division I Coaches' Poll and 18th in the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll, was selected as the third-best team in New England following a vote of the region's coaches.
The Crimson returns 34 letterwinners this season under Chris Wojcik '96, The Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men's Lacrosse, while welcoming a class of eight freshmen. Last year's squad ranked 10th in the NCAA in scoring offense, averaging 12.29 goals per game, with the top 13 goal scorers all back in the fold this year. Expected to lead the attack is three-time All-Ivy League selection and two-time Tewaaraton Award Watch List nominee Devin Dwyer (20g, 29a).
Dwyer and Stephen Jahelka were both named to the Preseason All-NEILA first team, while Joe Lang, Ian Ardrey, Bobby Duvnjak, Jack Breit, and Sean Mahon were recognized as members of the second team. Dwyer, Jahelka, and Lang were also named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans.
