CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's lacrosse team selected junior Sean Coleman, senior Ryan Norton and senior Matt Ryan as team captains for the 2016-17 season, Chris Wojcik, the Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men's Lacrosse, announced today.
"Sean Coleman, Ryan Norton, and Matt Ryan have been selected as captains for the 2016-2017 year," said Wojcik. "I'm happy to announce their selections, and they are great choices for our program. All three young men are high character individuals, lead by example, and each has a strong work ethic. Our players and staff recognize Sean, Ryan, and Matt as leaders amongst their peers, and team members that exert significant influence on their teammates. Our coaching staff looks forward to working in tandem with our captains as we lead this year's team."
Coleman has seen action in 27 games with five starts at midfield. The Doylestown, Pennsylvania native has amassed 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points, adding 17 ground balls. Coleman was also 9-of-18 from the faceoff X a season ago.
Norton has appeared in 26 games with 10 starts at defense. The Great Falls, Virginia product has picked up 22 career ground balls and caused nine turnovers.
An Ipswich, Massachusetts native, Ryan has appeared in 40 games over his career with 16 starts at long stick midfield. Ryan has totaled seven goals and three assists for 10 points, while causing 38 turnovers. The senior has corralled 80 ground balls, including 49 during his sophomore campaign.
