CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second-straight season, senior Morgan Cheek has been named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation Thursday night. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
Cheek is off to a fast start in 2018, leading the Crimson with 13 points on four goals and nine assists. A two-time All-Ivy League honoree, Cheek has posted consecutive seasons with at least 60 points, and is just three points away from breaking into the top-10 in program history. The Wellesley, Massachusetts native has tallied a 34-game point streak, which is the ninth-longest active streak in the country, including 147 points over the stretch with 82 goals.
The Tewaaraton Award selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation. On April 27, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced later this spring.
The Crimson looks to build on its 2-1 start, hosting Hartford Saturday at 1 p.m. on Jordan Field.
