PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time in three weeks, freshman Steven Cuccurullo of the Harvard men's lacrosse team has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Cuccurullo won 15 of 27 face-offs in a four-goal win over Hartford, 14-10, while tying a career-best with a game-high seven ground balls. The Smithtown, N.Y. native leads the Ivy League with 45 faceoff wins and a 54.9 percent mark from the X, which paces the league among players with a notable number of attempts. He also improved to fourth in the Ivy League with 4.25 ground balls per game.
The award was the second of the season for Cuccurullo, as he also earned the award Feb. 19.
Harvard men's lacrosse continues its nonconference slate on Saturday, March 10 at Providence.
