CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a record-breaking performance on Tuesday and an Ivy League win on Saturday, senior Morgan Cheek of the men's lacrosse team has been named the US Lacrosse National Player of the Week, as announced on Monday. He was also named the Baltimore Sun National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
The Wellesley, Massachusetts native broke the Harvard record for points in a single game with 13 against Boston University, scoring five goals with a program-best eight assists, in a 19-18 (OT) victory over the Terriers. Cheek scored the game-winning goal in overtime, which capped a six-goal comeback in the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter, and scored or assisted on six of the final seven Harvard goals to give the Crimson the win.
Cheek also tallied a team-high five points (1G, 4A) against Dartmouth, helping Harvard to a 2-0 start in Ivy League play. No. 19/RV Harvard is off to a 7-1 start, and travels to No. 1/1 Albany on Wednesday, March 28.
