CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Gerry Byrne, The Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men's Lacrosse, has named Lars Keil as the program's operations coordinator.
"I am excited that Lars will be returning to our staff directing the operations of our program," stated Byrne. "Lars will partner with me to ensure the smooth execution of all of our on field and off field activities, allowing our players to focus on their on-field performance and experiencing all that Harvard can offer."
Keil enters his second season with the men's lacrosse program, previously serving in a similar role a year ago. He joined the Crimson after spending time at Brown, Endicott, Bates and the women's teams at Duke and Bentley. In the 2016 season at Brown, Keil helped lead the Bears to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament semifinals. Helping lead a top-10 Division III team at Endicott, Keil guided the Gulls to four NCAA Tournament appearances. His journey featured a stint as head coach at Pfieffer, where he led a top-10 ranked program to its best record in the program's 30-year history.
"Lars has had a wide variety of experiences in the game, including coaching at the highest levels of men's and women's lacrosse and running a successful stringing business to name a few," added Byrne. "His relationships in the lacrosse equipment market will help us with our sponsor relationships and his connection to our student-athletes will allow for a smooth transition as we begin practice in the next few weeks."
A 2005 graduate of Springfield, Keil was a three-year letterwinner on the Pride's men's lacrosse team. He later received his master's degree in Athletic Administration from Endicott in 2013.
"I feel strongly that this position is critical to guarantee that our players immerse themselves in all that Harvard has to offer a student-athlete," said Byrne. "Lars will work with our staff and players with alumni relations, career development, internship placement, international trips and much more."
