Farag Captures Motor City Open Title

Farag was a two-time CSA individual national champion at Harvard (Dale Walker).

DETROIT, MI. – Former Harvard men's squash player Ali Farag '14 captured the 2016 Motor City Open title yesterday, downing World No. 3 Nick Matthew, 3-1.

Farag, World No. 22, downed three opponents ranked higher than him during the tournament, including victories over World No. 1 Mohamed Elshorbagy and No. 10 Mathieu Castagnet to reach the title game.

With the win, Farag earned his eighth Professional Squash Association World Tour title.

The Cairo, Egypt native was a two-time CSA individual national champion and three-time All-America first team selection during his time in Cambridge. Farag was instrumental in helping the Crimson capture the 2014 Potter Cup, its first national title since 1998.
