Abouaish, Way Highlight Men’s Squash Ivy League Yearly Honors

Freshman Saadeldin Abouaish, the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, helped guide Harvard to the Ancient Eight title with a 6-1 individual mark in league action (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
– Four members of the Harvard men's squash team were selected to the All-Ivy League first team, and freshman Saadeldin Abouaish and Mike Way, the Gregory Lee '87 and Russell Ball '88 Endowed Coach for Squash, were honored with Ivy League yearly awards, announced the League today. Abouaish took home Ivy Rookie of the Year honors, while Way was named Ivy League Coach of the Year.

Abouaish was a unanimous selection for Rookie of the Years honors and the All-Ivy first team, posting an 11-5 mark in his rookie campaign, including a 6-1 mark in Ivy play. Abouaish played in the top position for Harvard throughout the year as the Crimson went 7-0 in conference matches for its 41st Ivy Championship in program history.

Along with Abouaish, juniors Bradley Smith, Madhav Dhingra and freshman Timothy Brownell earned nods to the All-Ivy first team. Smith was selected for the third consecutive season, posting a 2-3 mark at No. 2 in Ivy action. Dhingra finished 5-1 in conference play, mainly playing at No. 3 as he earned his first All-Ivy selection. Brownell rounded out the All-Ivy first team for the Crimson, posting a perfect 7-0 mark in Ivy action from the No. 2-4 positions.

Way was honored with Ivy Coach of the Year honors for the first time since 2014-15 on the men's side. Way and the Crimson dominated Ivy action with a 7-0 league mark, finishing the year at 13-2 with a runner-up finish in the Potter Cup.
