Berkoff and Peltier paid a visit to their alma mater before last week's HYP. (Harvard men's swimming and diving)
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Saturday before this year's HYP – where the Harvard men's swimming and diving team claimed the dual meet championship – Crimson alumni David Berkoff '89 and Jeff Peltier '88 spoke with the current team to impart wisdom, advice and encouragement.
"To have Dave and Jeff come back and speak to the team before HYP was an honor," said Kevin Tyrrell, the Ulen-Brooks Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Swimming & Diving. "Their advice to the team helped get the guys fired up for the meet. Our alumni are the biggest supporters of our program, and we encourage more alums to come back and share their stories."
Berkoff, two-time Olympian and five-time medalist – including three gold medals – was an NCAA champion for the Crimson in 1987 and 1989. He served as a captain for the 1988-89 seasons as well. Peltier, who graduated in 1988 from Harvard, was a key component in the Crimson's success in the late 1980s as well. Both swimmers enjoyed their four years under legendary head coach Joe Bernal.
The two spoke about how valuable Harvard swimming and diving has been to them- both while at Harvard and beyond.
