Lucas Koelle reached the final of his draw at the Ivy Plus Invitational (Athletic Communications).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's tennis team competed at the Ivy Plus Invitational at Princeton and Yale in its second tournament of the fall season. Facing strong opposition from 16 other teams, the Crimson secured 12 doubles wins and 13 singles wins in a number of close matches throughout the weekend.
At the Princeton site, Lucas Koelle reached the final of the Lenz draw, defeating Virginia Tech's George Cartledge (7-5,7-5), Princeton's Damian Rodriquez (4-6,6-3,2-2) and Brown's Peter Litsky (6-1,5-7,7-6). Koelle fell to Florida's Andres Andrade in the final of his draw (6-7, 2-2).
Koelle also advanced to the final of his doubles draw with Kenny Tao. Koelle and Tao defeated South Carolina's Yancy Dennis and Thomas Brown 8-5, before edging Florida's Andrade and Stephen Madonia 8-5. Penn State's Lakoseljac and De La Bassetier claimed the narrow victory from Koelle and Tao in the final of the draw, 8-7.
At the Yale site, the Crimson went 8-2 in doubles play and 8-5 in singles play. Doubles pair Constantin Zoske and Andy Zhou went undefeated in play this weekend, gaining wins over Dartmouth's Haig/Speicher (8-3), Penn's Shatalin/Huryn (8-3) and Yale's Wang/Brown (8-7). Christopher Morrow and Logan Weber also secured two victories in their doubles matches as partners Saturday afternoon.
- Constantin Zoske and Andy Zhou went undefeated in both singles and doubles play throughout the whole tournament.
Harvard will host Boston University and Tufts in Octoberfest on October 7th at 2 p.m.
