PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – First-years Ronan Jachuck and Henry von der Schulenburg have advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northeast Regional Championships. Both Jachuck and von der Schulenburg advanced by winning their round-of-32 and round-of-16 matches in straight sets.
The first victory of the tournament for Jachuck came against Michael Pawlowicz of Binghamton, 6-4, 6-0, on Oct. 19. The Boca Raton, Fl. native then went on to defeat Thomas Lake of Army, 6-4, 6-3, and Dmitry Shatalin of Penn, 6-4, 6-1, to advance to the quarterfinals.
Von der Schulenburg recorded his first victory on Oct. 19 against Hao Sheng Koay of Buffalo, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2. He would not lose another set at Regionals, taking down Ritik Sunaram of Columbia, 6-0, 6-1, and the number five seed Ryan Seggerman of Princeton, 6-2, 7-5.
Quarterfinal play begins tomorrow, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m.
- The Crimson has gone undefeated during singles play three times this season.
- With three victories so far at Regionals, von der Schulenburg has improved to 8-2 on the fall season.
- Jachuck has secured all of his victories this season in straight sets.
