PHILADELPHIA, Pa. The Harvard men's tennis team finished the ITA Northeast Regional Championships today, Oct. 22, with first-year Ronan Jachuck competing in the semifinals round of the singles draw.

To advance to the semifinals, Jachuck defeated reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year and second seed Karl Poling of Princeton in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Jachuck fell in a hard-fought semifinal match to third seed Jackie Tang of Columbia, 6-4, 7-6.

Fellow first-year Henry von der Schulenburg also had an impressive showing at Regionals, advancing to the quarterfinals. Von der Schulenburg defeated the fifth seed Ryan Seggerman of Princeton in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-2, in the round-of-16 before dropping his quarterfinal match against the first seed No. 41 Charlie Broom of Dartmouth.

"I'm proud of the way Ronan and Henry competed throughout Regionals," remarked the Scott Mead '77 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Tennis Andrew Rueb. "They faced off against the top players in the entire ITA Northeast and didn't back down. There is still a lot of room for improvement and the goal is to mind the lessons from this weekend so we are ready for the dual match season."

Regarding the upcoming tournament that Harvard will be hosting, Nov. 8-10, Rueb stated, "I'm looking forward to Chowder Fest and seeing nearly our whole team compete. We've had some small injuries this fall that have forced several players to miss some events. We should be back to close to full strength and it will be fun to see them compete."
