Men’s Tennis Prepares to Face Bryant, Rice at Home

CAMRBIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's tennis team will look to defend its undefeated record against Bryant and Rice this Sunday, Feb. 2. The Crimson will first face the Rice Owls at 1:30 p.m. before taking on the Bryant Bulldogs after a short break at 6 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Murr Center Tennis Courts and be broadcast on ESPN3.

What to Know 

  • At the Crimson Kick-Off, Jan. 24 and 26, Harvard battled to 4-3 victory over BYU before winning all six singles matches to defeat Minnesota 6-1.
  • This is the first time that Harvard will face Rice since its 4-5 loss in 1992.
  • Against Bryant, the Crimson is 4-0, with its most recent win, a 5-2 victory, occurring in 2018.
  • If Harvard wins both matches, it will move to 6-0 on the season for the first time since 2018.
  • First-years Ronan Jachuck and Henry von der Schulenburg remain undefeated in all four matches that have been played so far.
  • Sophomores Steven Sun and Harris Walker both hold 3-0 records, while junior Constantin Zoske and first-year Alan Yim are 1-0.
  • Harvard received votes in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Team Rankings, released on Jan. 29.

At the Helm
Andrew Rueb '95 is entering his second season as the Scott Mead '77 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Tennis. He was elevated to head coach after spending 11 years at Harvard as an assistant and associate head coach and has helped lead the Crimson to 210 total victories and seven NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure.
