Men’s Volleyball Tabbed Sixth in EIVA Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Harvard opens its season Jan. 7 vs. Lewis at the Outrigger Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii (Gil Talbot).

BRONXVILLE , N.Y. – The Harvard men's volleyball team was picked sixth in the EIVA preseason coaches' poll, as announced by the league office.

The Crimson received 33 points and sits between NJIT and St. Francis (Pa.) which are tied for fourth (35 points) and seventh-place Sacred Heart (19 points). Harvard finished third in the league last season after losing to George Mason in the EIVA semifinals, 3-1. The Crimson boasted a 13-12 overall record and 7-5 EIVA mark.

Seniors Alister Bent, Branden Clemens and Alec Schlossman return for their final season in Crimson. Clemens was named All-EIVA first team, EIVA All-Academic Team and EIVA All-Tournament Team after tallying four double-doubles, posting 72 total blocks and serving 20 service aces following last season.

Traveling to Honolulu, Hawaii for its opening matches, Harvard will compete against Lewis (Jan. 7), Hawaii (Jan. 8) and King (Jan. 10) in the Outrigger Tournament. The Crimson's first home match at the Malkin Athletic Center will be against Alderson Broaddus on Jan. 23 at 4 p.m.
