NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Harvard men's volleyball team (5-9, 5-2 EIVA) was edged in three sets by No. 12 CSUN last night, March 10 at the Matadome. A four-match winning streak for the Crimson was snapped by set scores of 20-25, 14-25 and 23-25.
Chase Howard and Matthew Ctrvrtlik led the defense for Harvard with six and three digs a piece. Trevor Dow added four blocks, while Marko Kostich added two. On attack, Kostich topped the team's line up in hitting percentage at .357, notching six kills and only one error. Brad Gretsch and Riley Moore were other notable contributors, tallying seven and six kills, respectively. Ctrvrtlik and Kostich assisted the attack for Harvard with 16 and 12 helpers each.
As a team, the Crimson totaled 30 kills to CSUN's 36 and 28 assists to the Matador's 31. CSUN out-hit Harvard .333 to .177 and put up 17 blocks to the Crimson's 12.
Harvard continues its California road swing with a match at USC tonight at 10 p.m. (EST).
