CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's volleyball team has announced its 2019 schedule, which includes 12 home and nine away matches. All home matches will be played at the Malkin Athletic Center and broadcast live on ESPN+.
The Crimson begins its season on the west coast at the UCSB Invitational, facing off against UC Santa Barbara, CSUN, and defending national champion Long Beach St. Jan. 3-5. Harvard then welcomes Laval Jan. 9 and 10 for a back-to-back and the first home matches of the year. Shortly after, UC San Diego flies into town for a match on Jan. 12. A few short weeks later, the Crimson travel to Sacred Heart January 24. Harvard then treks west for a pair of matches against Ball St. and Purdue Fort Wayne Feb. 1 and 2.
Harvard then begins its 2018 EIVA title defense on the road at Penn State and Saint Francis February 15 and 16. Last year, the Crimson swept the Nittany Lions, winning both regular-season matches and a five-set thriller in the EIVA Semi-Finals. Continuing on, the Crimson opens its home EIVA slate against Princeton and NJIT on Feb. 22 and 23. This will be the first of two rematches of the season against Princeton, whom Harvard beat 3-1 in the EIVA Championship match.
The next weekend, the Crimson travels to Charleston for a pair of road matches March 1 and 2. Two weeks later, Harvard plays a tough three games in five days as it welcomes Sacred Heart March 16 and travels to Barton and Mount Olive March 18 and 19 to close out its non-conference schedule.
Ten days later, the Crimson completes a pair of matches, first welcoming Penn State to Cambridge on March 29 and followed by Saint Francis on the 30. The next week, Harvard travels for the last time during the regular season, traveling to Princeton and NJIT on Friday, April 5 and 6. Lastly, the Crimson close out the season at home, competing in a pair of matches against George Mason April 12 and 13.
The EIVA Semifinals and Finals will be on Thursday, April 18 and Saturday, April 20, respectively.
