Men’s Volleyball Opens Up 2020 Season at Hawai’i

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's volleyball team will begin its season with three matches at the Raising Cane's Rainbow Warrior Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i, Jan. 9-11. The Crimson will first face Grand Canyon at 9 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 9 before taking on No. 1 Hawai'i at 12 a.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 11. Harvard will wrap up the tournament with a match against Emmanuel (Ga.) at 9 p.m. EST on the same day.

What to Know

  • Seniors Matthew Ctvrtlik and Chase Howard have been named captains for the 2020 season.
  • Two key returners for the Crimson are Ctvrtlik and sophomore Campbell Schoenfeld who both earned All-EIVA honors last season.
  • Ctvrtlik finished last season with a team-leading 753 assists while Schoenfeld paced the Crimson in kills with 212.
  • This marks the first meeting between the Crimson and Grand Canyon and Emmanuel (Ga.)

At the Helm
Head coach Brian Baise enters his 12th season at the helm of the Harvard men's volleyball program. Baise holds a 121-113 record during his time in Cambridge, including five top-three EIVA Tournament finishes in the past eight years and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.
