CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard men's water polo earned two Northeast Water Polo weekly honors as sophomore Austin Sechrest and freshman Dennis Blyashov were named Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. This is the second Rookie of the Week award for Blyashov, who earned the title previously on Sept. 6. Goalkeeper Anthony Ridgley was also named to this week's honor roll for Defensive Player of the Week.
Sechrest helped lead the Crimson to a 3-0 record this past weekend at the Bison Invite hosted by Bucknell. Through three games, Sechrest notched nine goals, including four alone against No. 17 George Washington. Against the Colonials, Sechrest also made four steals to help secure the 16-11 victory for the Crimson.
Blyashov netted three goals in the opening game of the Bison Invite against Salem International, and also finished with one assist and one steal. Against George Washington, Blyashov scored four goals, had one assist and one steal. He finished out the weekend by helping the Crimson to a 18-3 victory over Gannon by scoring a goal, earning two assists and making one steal.
Ridgley played in two contests at the Bison Invite, making six saves against Salem International and eight against George Washington.
Harvard returns to the pool at Princeton on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
