CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard men's water polo's Dennis Blyashov was named the Northeast Water Polo Conference Co-Rookie of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. This is Blyashov's fourth time winning Rookie of the Week (Sept. 4, Sept. 18 and Oct. 2) and fifth award overall. The freshman was also named last week's Co-Player of the Week. Sophomore Austin Sechrest and junior goalkeeper Anthony Ridgley were named to the Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honor roll, respectively.
In four contests this past weekend in California, Blyashov netted 12 goals, including six in Harvard's 11-10 victory over Santa Clara. Blyashov scored two against Fresno Pacific, three against San Jose State and one against UC Davis. He now has 66 on the season.
Sechrest earned eight goals through the same four games, bringing his season total to 48. The sophomore also boasts 13 total assists and 21 saves. Ridgley has earned 112 total saves in 15 games. The junior secured eight saves in Harvard's 19-6 win over Fresno Pacific, and six against UC Davis.
The Crimson return to action this weekend at Blodgett Pool, hosting Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. Harvard will host Iona on Sunday at 9 a.m. before finishing the weekend against St. Francis (N.Y.) at 3 p.m. All games will air on the Ivy League Network.
