CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced its 2017 Men's All-Academic Awards on Monday night. Eleven individuals of the Harvard men's water polo team earned recognitions as scholar-athletes, while the team was one of six in the country to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater.
A total of 339 student-athletes were named to the ACWPC Scholar-Athlete Team. Nominations were made by head coaches with team members being recognized in three categories: Outstanding (4.0-3.71 GPA), Superior (3.70-3.41 GPA) and Excellent (3.40-3.20 GPA). Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach Ted Minnis' men's teams have earned 89 ACWPC distinctions during his eight seasons with the Crimson.
Nikhil Suri, Dennis Blyashov, Ben Wagner, Nathan Ondracek, Charlie Owens, and Bruno Snow each earned Superior honors. This is the third time Ondracek has been listed as Superior on the ACWPC list and the second for Suri and Owens. Nick Bunn and Colin Chiapello each received their second Excellent distinction from the ACWPC, being joined by Bennie Seybold, Jackson Enright and Grayson Judge.
Other teams to earn a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher were Salem International University, MIT, Cal Tech, St. Francis College Brooklyn and Brown.
