BRIDGEPORT, Pa.- Three members of the No. 9 Harvard men's water polo team were awarded weekly honors by the Northeast Water Polo Conference. Junior Austin Sechrest was named Player of the Week while sophomore Nikhil Suri and freshman Noah Hodge were both named Co-Defensive Player of the Week. This week's awards mark the first of the season for all three athletes, Sechrest's second career weekly award and the first career weekly award for both Suri and Hodge.
On the weekend, Sechrest tallied 12 goals with two assists, two steals, and three designated kick outs. The junior put together five goals against both Fordham and No. 18 George Washington, leading the Crimson to a sweep at the Princeton Invitational. Against the Colonials, Sechrest netted the game-tying and game-winning goals in the fourth quarter to secure the 12-11 win.
Suri saw action against Fordham, putting together 11 saves for the win. Noah Hodge backstopped the Crimson to the win over No. 18 George Washington, making a career-high 12 saves.
The Crimson travels to California Sept. 15-16 for a total of four games at the Aggie Round Up hosted by No. 11 UC Davis. Harvard begins the tournament with a rematch against the Aggies before facing No. 3 California and concludes with Chapman and Whittier the following day.
