CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Following a 10th-place finish at the 2019 New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Coed Championship last weekend, four members of the Harvard coed sailing team were named to the 2019 Coed All-NEISA team. Sophomores Henry Burnes and Eli Burnes were both tabbed as Second-Team All-NEISA Skipper selections, while seniors Lena Episalla and Catherine Tang picked up All-NEISA Crew First- and Second-team honors, respectively.
This season, the duo of Eli Burnes and Episalla helped Harvard to seven top-10 results, including a first-place finish at the 38th Lynne Marchiando Trophy hosted by MIT. Both Eli Burnes and Episalla also picked up Co-NEISA Sailor-of-the-Week honors this past fall for their performance at the Sherman Hoyt Trophy at Brown. At the Hoyt Trophy, the duo led the Crimson to a first-place result in the A-Division, helping best Ivy League rival Yale by two points.
Alongside Eli Burnes and Episalla, the pairing of Henry Burnes and Tang were critical in the Crimson's first-place victory at the Marchiando Trophy. In total, the pair of Henry Burnes and Tang earned five top-10 finishes, which included a recent first-place showing in the B-Division at the Thompson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College.
Harvard's four selections marks the second-consecutive year and 12th time in program history in which the Crimson have had multiple sailors named to the All-NEISA coed team.
