Laura Ricciardone posted a 1.15 ERA over 24.1 innings last week (Gil Tlabot).
PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Laura Ricciardone has been selected as the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday, March 24. She is the second Crimson pitcher to earn the award this season, joining Taylor Cabe, who earned the award on February 24.
During Harvard's spring break trip to California last week, Ricciardone worked a team-high 24.1 innings in four starts, posting a 2-1 record and a 1.15 ERA. She tied Morgan Groom with a team-best 10 strikeouts.
Against Loyola Marymount, the Slidell, Louisiana, native, earned her first win of the week, allowing six hits over five innings in the 5-3 win. She followed that up the next day with eight more innings against Bethune-Cookman, limiting the Wildcats to just one run and five hits, while striking out four. Harvard earned the 2-1 victory. In her final outing of the trip, Ricciardone put on a pitching clinic, going 9.1 frames without allowing an earned run and just five hits, but an error cost her the victory.
Freshman Maddy Kaplan and Katherine Lantz were named to the honor roll. Kaplan batted .400 with five walks, two runs scored and one RBI in seven games. Lantz played in five games, posting a .500 average with two doubles and one RBI.
Harvard returns to action this weekend with the start of Ivy League play at Columbia and Penn.
