Duncan and Lockhart Earn Ivy League Softball Weekly Honors

Sophomore pitcher Kathleen Duncan picked up a win and two saves last week for Harvard at the Long Beach St./Cal St. Fullerton Invitational.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Sophomore third baseman Erin Lockhart and sophomore pitcher Kathleen Duncan were named Ivy League softball player and pitcher of the week, the conference announced today (March 13).

Lockhart was a force for Harvard this weekend at the Long Beach St./Cal St. Fullerton Invitational, helping the Crimson finish the weekend 4-1 with a team best four RBIs and .563 on base percentage. She had hits in four of the five games, batting .364 in five games, including two go-ahead home runs. On Friday against Cal St. Fullerton, Lockhart provided all the offense Harvard would need, hitting a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Crimson ahead 2-0 in a game Harvard went on to win 2-1. On Sunday in a 3-2 win against Longwood, Lockhart again came up with the big hit, keying a three-run third inning for the Crimson with a two-run home run. Lockhart leads the team with two HRs and eight RBIs.

Duncan was excellent this week in three appearances, playing a key role in three wins for Harvard this past weekend. On March 10 against San Diego, she allowed one run over the first four innings, then re-entered the game in the sixth to help Harvard preserve a 4-1 lead. The Crimson would go on to win 5-4, with Duncan earning her first save of the season. On March 11, Duncan came back with another solid effort, allowing one run in four innings to earn the win in a 3-2 victory over Long Beach State. Duncan appeared in relief action on Sunday, earning an 8-out save in Harvard's 3-2 win over Longwood.

Harvard heads to Hawaii for seven games as part of the Rainbow Wahine Classic, hosted by the University of Hawaii. The Crimson will open the event with a game against UConn on Tuesday (March 14) at 9:30 p.m. ET.
