CAMBRDIGE, Mass. – The Harvard skiing team is back in action Jan. 28-29 at the UNH Carnival in Jackson, New Hampshire. The Crimson is set to compete in its second of five carnivals this season.
Last Time Out
Harvard completed its opening weekend Jan. 20-21 at the St. Lawrence Carnival in Lake Placid, New York, earning 10th amongst the 17-team field.
Nordic Top Performers
Sophomore Nina Armstrong led the women's team in Lake Placid with a top-10 finish, earning seventh overall in the classic sprint with a time of 3:43.65. Sophomore Hannah Hardenbergh also impressed at the St. Lawrence Carnival last weekend, notching two top-15 finishes for Harvard. Hardenbergh raced to 10th in the 5K FS (15:25.8) and 13th in the class sprint (3:44.65).
On the men's side, junior Haakon Sigurslid turned in a time of 3:10.75 in the men's classic sprint to take home the No. 10 spot. In the men's 10K FS, junior Connor Green crossed the line in 31:32.4 to earn 56th.
Alpine Top Performers
In the women's giant slalom, junior Kelly Steeves was Harvard's top finisher, collecting 35th overall with a combined time of 2:19.48. Freshman Courtney Clark finished close behind in 52nd at 2:23.21.
Leaders of the Pack
Seniors James Stevenson and Kaitlyn Gibson are serving as the captains for the alpine squad this season, while seniors Devlin Shea and Rachel Hampton will lead the nordic team as captains.
Harvard skiing welcomes nine freshman to the roster this season, with five additions to the alpine team and four newcomers on the nordic side. Sixteen Crimson returned from last year's roster, including 12 upperclassmen.
The Crimson returns to action Feb. 3-4 at the UVM Carnival in Stowe, Vermont.
