Harvard Skiing Concludes Action at UVM Carnival

Junior Pieter Weemaes was the top finisher for the men's alpine squad, collecting 45th overall in the men's slalom (Gil Talbot). 

– The Harvard skiing team competed at the UVM Carnival in Stowe, Vermont this weekend, finishing 10th out of the 16-team field.

Senior Rachel Hampton led the way for the Crimson nordic squad, turning in a 10th-place finish in the women's 10K with a time of 35:12.2. Hampton also recorded 36th overall in the women's FS sprint (4:04.84).

Freshman Tegan Thorley and sophomore Nina Armstrong performed well in the sprint and 10K as well. Thorley led Harvard in the sprint with a time of 4:04.57 for 34th overall to along with 31st in the 10K (36:40.2). Armstrong collected a 38th-place finish in the sprint (4:05.23) and 37th in the 10K (37:11.4).

Sophomore Hannah Hardenbergh took home 30th in the 10K with a time of 36:39.6.

For the men, senior Devlin Shea led the Crimson in the FS sprint, recording 39th after crossing in 3:22.58. Senior Ian Meyer was the top finisher in the 10K, notching 27th overall with a final time of 31:50.2.

Freshman William Rhatigan and junior Connor Green were solid in both events, as Rhatigan finished No. 57 in the sprint (3:25.37) and 55th in the 10K (32:39.0), and Green tallied 61st in the sprint (3:25.85) and 58th in the 10K (32:49.4).

Junior Kelly Steeves led the alpine team with a 28th-place finish in the women's slalom (2:13.61), finishing just over a second away from 25th. She also notched 34th in the giant slalom (2:34.36).

Freshman Courtney Clark placed 42nd in the giant slalom (2:39.17) and 43rd in the slalom (2:38.29).

On the men's side, junior Pieter Weemaes was the top finisher in the slalom, completing the run in 2:19.68 for 45th place. Freshman Carter Kendig followed right behind Weemaes in 46th with a time of 2:20.76, and freshman Robert Dorfman earned 47th at 2:38.03.

Harvard skiing will be back in action on Feb. 10-11 at the Dartmouth Carnival in Hanover, N.H.
