EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Efe Uwaifo completed his collegiate career by placing 15th in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night. Uwaifo's second jump of the competition (51-4.25) put him 15th overall at the end of the night, his best showing at the NCAA Outdoor meet.
Uwaifo will earn USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors by virtue of finishing in the top 16 (9-16) in the event. He is just the second male student-athlete in program history to earn All-America distinction in the triple jump and the first since Samyr Laine placed seventh in 2005 at NCAA Outdoors.
On Saturday, senior Jade Miller will race in the 400 meter hurdles final at 7:57 p.m. ET, while sophomore Gabby Thomas will compete in the final of the 200 meters at 8:07 p.m. ET. Both races can be viewed on ESPN and ESPN3. Senior Nikki Okwelogu will also be in action in the women's discus throw final at 8:55 p.m. ET.
