Track and Field Led by Marshall's Record Breaking 800m Effort; Women's 4x400m Relay at BU

Junior captain Myles Marshall broke his own school record in the 800 meters, placing second overall in 1:47.74 at the Scarlet and White Meet

BOSTON, Mass. –
A standout effort by the Harvard women's 4x400m relay team, and a record breaking performance from junior captain Myles Marshall in the 800m led track and field at the 2018 Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Meet held at BU Track and Tennis Center.

Closing out the meet for the Crimson in the 4x400m relay were Zoe Hughes (55.9), Gabby Thomas (52.2),  Karina Joiner (55.0), and Maya Miklos (54.6), who recorded the second fastest indoor time in the event in program history, winning in 3:37.70. This was the fourth fastest time in Ivy League history as well.

Earlier in the day Marshall placed second overall in the 800m, breaking his own record in the event with a 1:47.74 finish.

In the 500m run, Maya Miklos shattered her own personal mark in the event, finishing third overall in 1:13.26, the third fastest time in program history.

Freshman Ryan Thrush also took third in the 500m run with his best time of the year in the event (1:03.93).

Competing in the 800m for the first time at Harvard, Kathryn Gillespie recorded the eighth fastest time in program history with her fifth place finish (2:08.82).

Gabby Thomas picked up her second win of the season in the 200m dash, winning with the fastest time of all the sections (23.26). In the same event, freshman Olivia Okoli made her collegiate debut, finishing in 24.26 (fourth best in Harvard history).

What's Next:
Harvard will send different groups to four different meets next Friday (Feb. 9), including the Don Kirby Invite, the Valentine Invite, the Husky Classic, and the Texas Tech Shootout.
