CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard indoor track and field fell in a dual meet at the Gordon Indoor Track on Sunday. The women's team fell by a score of 63-41 in Penn's favor while the men lost 59-44.
Leading the way for the men's team was senior captain Myles Marshall and sophomore Jovahn Williamson who both won two events. Marshall opened his 2019 indoor season with a win in the 600m (1:18.51) and helped the 4x440-yard relay to a win (3:15.28) while Williamson won the 300m (34.37) and was on the 4x440-yard relay with Marshall. Closing out the relay was Khalil Wassell and Rodney Agyare-May. Senior Mitch Valko won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.33 seconds.
Junior Donagh Mahon and first-year Kyle Murphy won two field events for the Crimson. Mahon moved up the all-time leaderboards to second with his win in the high jump with his mark of 2.18m (7-01.75). Murphy earned his first collegiate win in the long jump, exploding for a mark of 7.26m (23-10.00) and moving into eighth all-time in Harvard history. First-year Sam Welsh helped the Crimson with his win in the shot put, throwing the 16-pound ball 16.16m (53-00.25).
The women's team was highlighted by a pair of sweeps in the 60m dash and 60m hurdles. A pair of juniors and a first year led the way in the 60m hurdles as Livia Gauntless (8.50), Jada Jones (8.52), and Karina Joiner (8.58) went 1-2-3. The next event, Olivia Okoli, Kelisa Cain, and DaLoria Boone swept the 60m going 7.57, 7.58, and 7.62, respectively.
Boone continued her strong day, finishing in second in the long jump, reaching a mark of 5.67m (18-07.25). She only trailed teammate Simi Fajemisin, who jumped 5.71m (18-09.00) to take the victory in the long jump.
Maya Miklos earned her second win of the season, taking first in the 600m with a time of 1:31.99).
- Donagh Mahon moved into second all-time in the high jump with his mark of 2.18m (7-01.75).
- Junior Martha Kebeh (15.35m, 50-04.50) set a new collegiate-best in the weight throw.
- First-year DaLoria Boone improved on her collegiate-best time from the BU Opener with her 7.62 in the 60m.
- Sophomore Jovahn Williamson earned his second victory in the 300m this season.
The Crimson will be back at the Gordon Indoor Track in 2019 for the Harvard Multi Meet on Friday, Jan. 11 and the Beantown Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 12.
